(a) As used in this subdivision, "vulnerable adult" has the meaning given in section 609.232, subdivision 11. (b) Whoever assaults and inflicts demonstrable bodily harm on a vulnerable adult, knowing or having reason to know that the person is a vulnerable adult, is guilty of a gross misdemeanor.
