Initiating a Search

Initiate a search by entering a combination of search criteria in the Chapter , Section , Subdivision , Keyword , and Statue ID fields or by entering a word or phrase from the statute in the Quick Search field.

To search by chapter, section and subdivision you must provide, at minimum, the chapter of the statute you want to locate. If you enter only a statute chapter, the search response lists all statutes that begin with that chapter number. If you enter the chapter and section, the search response is more refined and lists only those statutes which exactly match both. If you don’t enter any data, the system returns a list of all criminal justice statutes currently in effect.

To further limit search results, you can refine your search by selecting criteria in one or more of the following drop down lists:

Additionally, you can enter a word or short phrase in the Keyword field, and search the Summary Text Only or the Summary and Legislative Text .
